Research into Multi-scale Examination of MultiPHase physIcs in flowS (MEMPHIS)

Prof. Barry Azzopardi (BJA) is FIChemE, Editor for Fluid Flow of Chem. Eng. Res. & Des. and a member of the Governing Board of The International Conferences of Multiphase Flow. He has successfully gained more than 20 grants from research councils (EPSRC/NERC), and built world leading, large-scale facilities for multiphase flow studies at Nottingham. He has performed the first fundamental measurements of gas-liquid flow transitions in large-diameter pipes; this work has provided insight into the prediction of these complex flows, which are crucial for the design of sub-sea installations and associated risers. He was assistant manager of fluid flow in the UKAEA underlying programme, manager of Boiler and Pipelines for the HTFS project and Head of the Chemical Engineering Department at Nottingham between 1990-1997 and 2008-2010.
