Dr. Fangxin Fang works at the Applied Computation and Modelling Group (AMCG) at ICL and hasbeen working on inversion and data assimilation into models over 10 years. She leads AMCG research on adjoint data assimilation methods in geophysical models as well as model reduction, and efficient inversion techniques with adaptive-mesh methods and in particular: adaptive observations, second order adjoint methods for assimilating data and targeted observations. Her main original contributions center on cutting edge techniques of goal based error measures using adjoint analysis methods, reduced order modelling using proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) techniques where the work is at the forefront of research and its applications. She has authored over 30 journal papers.
